Start of the day at the lake
I stopped off this morning on the way to work at Stockbridge Pond, near Tilford in Surrey to catch the mist. Stockbridge Pond is a little fishing pond tucked away in the woods. The mist was just clearing and it was very still apart from the occasional ‘plop’ of a carp coming to the surface. This shot was taken from the dam end of the lake and these pieces of wood are designed to stop floating debris from clogging up the overflow. And how lucky that there was a small plant growing out of the join in the wood!
Quite a lot of retouching to do on this shot. The surface of the water was covered with debris that had fallen from the trees – twigs, leaves, seed cases – they all needed to be removed in Photoshop, but apart from that the image is pretty much as it came out of the camera.
Shot on my Nikon d7100 with a 16-85mm lens, ƒ/3.5 at 1/50th second, ISO 200.
